Kurukshetra Police seizes Poppy Husk worth Rs 25 lac

The price of seized narcotics in the international market is said to be around 25 lakh rupees.

Kurukshetra: District Police Kurukshetra took big action against drug smugglers and arrested an accused on the charge of possessing narcotics. Police arrested Angrez Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra, and recovered four quintals of 64 kg of poppy husk worth Rs 25 lakh from his possession. The police are interrogating the arrested accused.

Police spokesperson Naresh Kumar said that on June 12, a team of anti-narcotics cell in-charge Inspector Surendra Pal, Sub Inspector Jagpal Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Sushil, Dharambir, Constable Sanjeev Kumar, SPO Surendra Kumar, and driver Head Constable Praveen Kumar were present at the Third Gate Kurukshetra University in search of a crime. On secret information, the police team started checking by blocking the railway gate near Mirzapur. After a while, the police team saw a canter coming from Kirmach, which the police team stopped and overpowered the person sitting on the driver’s seat, asked for his name and address, and started an investigation.

A police spokesperson said that the canter driver gave his name as Angrez Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra. On searching the canter in front of the gazetted officer, 4 quintals of 64 kg of doda/churapost stuffed in 23 sacks were recovered from the canter. The price of seized narcotics in the international market is said to be around 25 lakh rupees. The police are interrogating the accused arrested in the case.
