The petitioner's advocates, Ravi Sharma and Sajal Bansal said that the next hearing has been fixed for August 29 with some changes.

Chandigarh: The division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu of Punjab and Haryana High Court, while maintaining the order banning illegal construction in Morni, expressed displeasure over the attitude of the government. No one has been deployed yet to assist the former officer appointed on the PIL filed by petitioner advocate Vijay Bansal regarding Mautod land ownership. The division bench, while ordering to appoint an assistant and provide adequate facilities, said that the Morni area acts like lungs for Chandigarh and its adjoining cities.

Shivalik Vikas Manch President Vijay Bansal said that in 2017, a PIL was filed in the High Court to get the farmers their rights. The Forest Department had given a false affidavit in court in 2018 and told that to solve the problem of Nautod, retired IFS officer MP Sharma has been appointed as Forest Settlement Officer for 2 years and facilities have been provided.

In the matter of ownership rights, the division bench has ordered the land government to submit a report with an affidavit. The division bench directed the government to continue the work by providing adequate facilities to the settlement officer, MP Sharma. The petitioner’s advocates, Ravi Sharma and Sajal Bansal said that the next hearing has been fixed for August 29 with some changes.

In the report filed by the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula, it was told that the work of digitizing 14 Bhoj Masavis located in the Morni Hill area and referencing 172 BAS was done.
