In view of the ongoing tense situation with Pakistan, the health department of Gurugram has started extensive preparations to deal with any emergency. The health department has prepared a standard operating procedure (SOP), under which government and private hospitals in the district have been put on alert mode.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Alka Singh has also started meetings with PMOs, medical officers of private and government hospitals. Along with this, all hospitals have been given clear instructions to keep 20 to 25 percent of beds reserved for emergencies. Along with this, the leaves of doctors and health workers have been canceled so that immediate action can be taken if required.
The CMO said that this step has been taken on the lines of preparations made during the COVID-19 epidemic. At that time, the health department had taken quick and coordinated action in the emergency situation. The health department has directed the hospitals to ensure adequate stock of medicines, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and other necessary medical equipment.
Apart from this, plans are being made to set up special wards for the treatment of patients in case of emergency. Private hospitals have also been asked to strictly follow the SOP to be implemented soon. The Health Department has emphasized on ensuring the availability of trained medical personnel in all hospitals. For this, special training can also be given to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.
