Double problem for passengers: trains late for hours, pantries serving unhygienic food

To reach from one place to another, passengers have to wait for many hours on railway stations due to farmer agitation. In such a situation, while they are facing mental problems, on the other hand, complaints of not getting hygienic food in the train pantries are also reaching the Railways department.

Taking cognizance of such complaints, Railways has handed over the responsibility of investigation to the Commerce Department.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, the Commerce Department of Ambala Division has also deployed five teams for this work, which have started investigating the train’s pantries coming to other railway stations including Ambala Cantt Railway Station so that a detailed report can be prepared and will be sent to the department.

In this series, the team raided the train number 12476 Shrimata Vaishno Devi Katra-Hapa Express at Ambala Cantt Railway Station and checked the food items and found dirt at some places in the pantry.

After this, the team also raided train number 12926 Paschim Express and found the arrangements of the pantry here was good.

At the same time, the pantry managers of both the trains were instructed that during the farmers’ movement, the trains are running late by hours, hence only clean food should be served to the passengers so that their problems could be reduced.


144 trains were affected on the 29th day of the farmers’ protest. During this period, 67 trains were completely cancelled, 65 trains were run on diverted routes, while 12 trains were stopped midway and re-operated.
