The ED raided the residence of senior BJP leader Nitish Bhatia in Model Town on Thursday. The ED investigation was completed after midnight. The team has taken a sealed box and a bag from Bhatia’s house. The team did not give any information about what was recovered from the house. At the same time, former MP Sanjay Bhatia said that it was a routine investigation by the team. The family did not face any problem.
Sources claim that this action is related to Nitish’s elder son Neeraj Bhatia, who was earlier arrested in the case of selling codeine base syrup in Jammu and Kashmir, and the case of illegal purchase of property. A report has also been sought from the Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner of Himachal Pradesh regarding this land.
Jammu and Kashmir NCB had caught the case of codeine syrup last year. The team had seized 33.980 kg of codeine-based cough syrup, 900 tablets of Alprozo-lam, 56 capsules of Tra-Metrol, 210 tablets of Lorazepam, 570 tablets of Clobazam and about Rs 15 lakh in cash.
In this case, Neeraj Bhatia, son of Nitishen Bhatia, was arrested. He was the president of Sirmaur Drug Manufacturing Association. Investigation revealed that codeine syrup was sold from Bhatia’s firm located in Paonta Sahib. ED started investigating the matter after it came to light that it was a case of money laundering. Also, ED wrote a letter to the Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner on December 7, 2024.
In which details of the assets of the company and the people associated with it were sought.
