Chandigarh: Even after three counselings in 11 government and private colleges in Chandigarh, many students did not get admission. Students and parents are confused as to which stream to get admission in. Even after three counselling sessions, students and parents approaching the college management for admission are returning disappointed.
The Higher Education Department had kept B.Com, BBA, and BCA in the centralized admission process. The first two counselings were done at the centralized level. The colleges were asked to organize the third counselling at their level. To participate in this, students were given time till 22nd July to fill out the Google form. Under this, the colleges have given admission based on merit lists at their level.
It has been refused to give additional seats in BBA and BCA. The reason for this is said to be that both the courses are under the All India Council for Technical Education. There is a possibility of getting admission in B.Com if additional seats are available, but there is less possibility of getting admission in BBA and BCA courses.
Parents and students in colleges are applying for admission in B.Com., BBA, and BCA courses. The college management is asking them to come after a few days. The college management has written a letter to PU to provide additional seats in B.Com. first year. Every day, 30 to 40 students are coming to PU for inquiries.
Parents and students are eyeing the start of admission at Delhi University and other universities in the country. It is expected that when the admission process starts in these universities and admissions are done, the seats of many students who have already been admitted are likely to become vacant.
30 to 40 students are coming daily for admission. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of GGDSD College located in Sector-32, said that every day around 30 to 40 students and parents come to the campus for B.Com. and BBA. And people are coming to inquire about admission to B.Com. There is a possibility of getting additional seats in B.Com. from the PU management. It is difficult to get additional seats due to the addition of BBA and BCA courses by AICTE.
