Farmers Organiztions in Kaithal to hold one-day hunger strike on March 5

In Kaithal, farmer organizations have once again intensified their struggle for their demands. On March 5, the farmer organizations of the district will hold a one-day symbolic hunger strike at the Mini Secretariat.

Kaithal: In Kaithal, farmer organizations have once again intensified their struggle for their demands. On March 5, the farmer organizations of the district will hold a one-day symbolic hunger strike at the Mini Secretariat. This strike will be held on completion of 100 days of hunger strike by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal.

Bharatiya Kisan Union Dhanna Bhagat’s president Hoshiar Singh Gill and Naujwan Kisan Union’s president Jaswinder Dhul said that farmers will start gathering at the secretariat from 9 am. The strike will be held from 10 am to 5 pm. Through the strike, the demands of the farmers will be placed before the government.

These are the demands of the farmers

– A law should be made to guarantee the purchase of all crops at MSP for farmers across the country and the prices of crops should be fixed as per the report of Dr. Swaminathan Commission.

– Farmers and labourers should be completely relieved of their debts.

– Land Acquisition Act 2013 should be re-implemented across the country and provision should be made for taking written consent of farmers before land acquisition and giving compensation 4 times the market rate.

– The culprits of Lakhimpur Kheri massacre should be punished and the victim farmers should be given justice.

– India should come out of the World Trade Organisation and all free trade agreements should be stopped.

– Pension should be given to farmers and farm labourers.

– During Delhi Court, compensation should be given to the deceased farmers and one member of the family should be given a job.

– Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 should be repealed.

– Under MNREGA, 200 days of employment per year and a wage allowance of Rs 700 should be given and MNREGA should be linked with farming.

– Provisions should be made for imposing strict penalties and fines on companies manufacturing fake seeds, pesticides and fertilizers and the quality of seeds should be improved.

– A National Commission should be formed for chilli, turmeric and other spices.

– 5th Schedule of the Constitution should be implemented and by ensuring the rights of tribals on water, forest and land, the plunder of tribal land by companies should be stopped.
