Khanauri: The Kisan Andolan has been going on for a year on the Shambhu and Khanauri border of Punjab-Haryana for 13 demands including legal guarantee of MSP of crops. At the same time, before the sixth round of meeting with the central government on February 22, the farmers will observe the death anniversary of young farmer leader Shubhkaran Singh who was killed in the movement on February 21.
During this time, tribute ceremonies will be organized at Shubkaran’s native village Balloh Bathinda on one side and at Shambhu-Khanauri and Ratanpur border on the other. During this, tribute will be paid to all the farmers who lost their lives during this front. While on February 19, a march will start from Sirsa in Haryana, which will reach Shubkaran Singh’s village Balloh on February 21.
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike has entered the 83rd day today on 16 February. At the same time, he said that he will attend the meeting with the central government on the 22nd. However, he said that he faced problems in the eight-hour journey to the meeting in Chandigarh.
Only five rounds of meetings were held in a year
Kisan Andolan 2.0 completed one year on 13 February. In this one year period, five rounds of meetings have been held between the farmers and the central government. The 4th round of meetings was held in the month of February before the Lok Sabha elections. While the 5th meeting has been held for one year.
However, this meeting has been successful to some extent. The talks have progressed. The central government has scheduled a meeting with the farmers on the 22nd. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Prahlad Joshi will attend this meeting. While ministers and officials of the Punjab government will also be present in the meeting.
However, the farmers say that Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike and the program to march to Delhi on February 25 still stands the same. The future strategy will be decided after the meeting on the 22nd. However, during this time the matter of the agitation has reached the Supreme Court.
