Gurugram: Garbage at a garbage disposal plant in Bandhwari, Gurugram, caught fire on Sunday afternoon. At 12:30 pm, the employees of the garbage plant informed the fire brigade about the fire. When these vehicles reached the spot at around 1 pm after passing through the traffic, they found a huge fire there. One vehicle each was sent from Udyog Vihar, Bhim Nagar and Sector 37 fire brigade stations. All these three vehicles are still on the way.
The garbage of both the cities is disposed of near Bandhwari village on Gurugram Faridabad Road. It is being said that some burning object must have come in the garbage and due to strong sunlight and wind, the flammable garbage caught fire.
At present, the fire brigade teams are trying to extinguish the fire and the fire has not been controlled yet. Fire Officer Jayanarayan said that it will take time to extinguish the fire and five vehicles have been sent to the spot. More teams will be sent if needed. There is no news of any casualties so far.
fire caused by contact with air and oxygen
This is not the first time that this garbage mountain has caught fire like this. In the year 2014 also, a huge fire broke out here, which the fire department worked hard for 3 days to extinguish. In the year 2022 also, a fire broke out in the garbage mountain, which was controlled after two days.
Fires often occur during the summer season. According to corporation officials, methane gas starts forming under the old garbage heaps, due to which the garbage can catch fire when it comes in contact with air and oxygen. Due to frequent fires in the garbage mountains during the summer season, local people start having difficulty breathing.
