Former Haryana Minister Satpal Sangwan passes away after battling Liver Cancer

Satpal Sangwan, former cooperative minister of Haryana and two-time MLA, has passed away. He was a liver cancer patient.

Gurugram: Satpal Sangwan, former cooperative minister of Haryana and two-time MLA, has passed away. He was a liver cancer patient. Due to which he was unwell for the last few days. He breathed his last at 2:45 am on Monday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

His body reached his residence on Loharu Road in Charkhi Dadri at around 8:30 am on Monday morning. The body has been kept here for the last rites.

After this, his last rites will be performed at his native village Chandeni in Dadri district at around 2 pm. Currently, Satpal Sangwan’s son Sunil Sangwan is a BJP MLA from Dadri.

Former minister Satpal Sangwan’s daughter Usha Kadyan (60) died a few days ago. She had come to her maternal home. Here the former minister was very sad due to the death of his daughter. Due to which his condition kept deteriorating . However during this time his MLA son Sunil Sangwan tried his best to treat his father. He was with his father in Gurugram for almost a week. But due to the spread of liver cancer and old age, his condition did not improve.

On Sunday, the CM also came to meet him

On receiving the information about the former minister’s illness, Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini also reached Medanta Hospital a few hours before his death. There the CM enquired about his health. During this time, Cabinet Minister Rao Narveer Singh and Gurugram BJP District President Kamal Yadav were with him. During this time, he was also seen smiling and talking to the CM.

Last year in April 2024, Satpal Sangwan decided to join BJP. On 19 April 2024, he joined BJP in the presence of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at a function held in Sonipat. On this occasion, Khattar praised him and said that Sangwan is a very dedicated leader towards his area. After joining the BJP , Satpal Sangwan did not contest the election himself due to his old age, but put his son in politics to take over his legacy. Due to this, his son Sunil Sangwan took voluntary retirement (VRS) from the post of Jail Superintendent. After this, he contested the 2024 assembly elections from BJP and won.
