Gurugram: On Friday, the traffic police took strict action against the drivers who did not drive in the lane on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.
During the campaign, monitoring was also done with drones; the drivers who violated the rules were stopped and were also instructed to follow the rules by issuing challans. On the instructions of Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor and Traffic IG HS Doon, a campaign was launched in the district on Friday.
In the campaign conducted from Friday morning until the evening, the traffic police caught 1015 drivers for not driving in the lane. Challans were issued against them while taking action under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Traffic police imposed a fine of more than Rs 12 lakh through challans.
During this time, traffic ACP was also present on the spot.
DCP Traffic Virendra Vij said that the police aim to make the roads of Gurugram safe. Most road accidents are caused by not driving in one’s lane and suddenly changing lanes. In which there is a danger to one’s own life as well as others. To prevent such accidents, awareness campaigns are also run from time to time by Gurugram Police.
Signs are often made on the road to separate lanes for drivers, but some people still violate the rules, given which strict action is taken against those who violate the rules by challaning them. Lane discipline reduces road accidents, and vehicles can reach their destination safely.
