Hisar: A major road accident took place on Thursday afternoon around 1.30 pm near Raipur Road on Hisar-Delhi National Highway No. 9. A 14-tyre diesel tanker with Gujarat number plate went out of control and overturned, killing two bike riders on the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, a man and a woman riding a bike were trapped under the tanker. Immediately after the accident, the police team reached the spot and started the rescue work. The body of the woman was found lying near the tanker, which was removed and sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem. At the same time, the body of the other person was badly stuck under the tanker, which the administration had to struggle a lot to remove.
Due to the tanker being filled with diesel, extra caution is being taken in the rescue work. A big crane was called on the spot, but it could not lift the tanker. After this, another crane is being arranged.
The police diverted the traffic on NH-9 to a single lane from both sides and the area has been barricaded. After the accident, four PCR vans reached the spot and a large number of people gathered at the spot.
At present, the deceased have not been identified and the bike number has also not been revealed. Police said that the tanker driver fled from the spot immediately after the accident. He is being searched.
Sadar police station in-charge Ishwar Singh said that it may take about two hours to remove the tanker. The administration and rescue team are present at the spot and every possible effort is being made.
