Gurugram: Hotel owner shot dead after three miscreants opened fire

At present, the police is investigating the matter.

A hotel owner was shot dead late Tuesday night in Gurugram, Haryana. Three miscreants entered the Jhopdi Hotel located on Pataudi-Kulana Road on the pretext of getting a cold drink. There was not much crowd in the hotel at that time. The miscreants opened fire as soon as they got the chance, in which the hotel owner died on the spot.

On hearing the sound of gunshots, the hotel staff and other people came, but by then the three miscreants fled from there on a bike. Pataudi police station reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the hotel owner was murdered due to enmity. At present, the police is investigating the matter.

The deceased has been identified as Deependra alias Monu Jatoli. Police investigation revealed that the CCTV cameras installed in the hotel were off during the incident. The police suspect that someone had deliberately turned off the cameras earlier, so that the incident would not be captured on camera.

People nearby say that activities like illegal drinking used to take place in the hotel. Due to this, there were frequent fights here. Due to this, firing had taken place here earlier also. According to police sources, a youth named Indrajit was murdered in Monu’s village several years ago. Monu’s brother’s name had come up in this murder case. Police suspect that Monu was shot due to the enmity of this murder. Police is trying to identify the criminals with the help of CCTV cameras installed around the hotel. Several teams have been formed to catch the accused. The forensic team has also collected evidence from the spot.
