Bhiwani: In Haryana’s Bhiwani, a private teacher was defrauded of Rs 9 lakh 43 thousand by luring him to invest in a mutual fund company and promising to earn profits. The Cyber Crime Police Station has registered a case and started looking for the cyberthug. This fraud has been done through an investment in a fake app on the online market.
Charan Singh, a resident of Bahl Vikas Nagar, Bhiwani, said that he is a teacher at a private school. He said that on April 5, he received calls and messages on his mobile from an unknown number through WhatsApp to invest in the stock market. When he refused them, he started getting different WhatsApp calls and messages again and again.
He said that in the meantime, he received a WhatsApp call. The caller gave his name as Mohan Khanna. He told himself to be an advisor to the American Mutual Fund Company (Federated Hermes Global Equity Fund). Charan Singh was taken into confidence by calling him repeatedly on WhatsApp. For fraud, he made me invest in a fake app called FHT. He showed shares of different IPOs in my account.
Complainant Charan Singh said that the fraudsters fraudulently deposited a total of 9 lakh 43 thousand rupees in cash in their account. On April 5, 2024, Rs 34000 was deposited in the RBL Bank account; on April 18, 193000, cash was deposited in the SBI Bank; and on May 24, Rs 210000 was deposited in the IndusInd Bank. On June 2, after selling shares from the Bandhan Bank account for Rs 500,000, he asked for more money through a WhatsApp message. When asked for the money back, he refused to give it.
