Chandigarh : Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal has taken strict cognizance of the attacks and protests by farmers against BJP and JJP candidates in Haryana.
He has called for status reports in this regard from all the DCs of the state. Also, instructions have been given to the DGP to provide security to the candidates as per requirement. The Chief Electoral Officer has directed that candidates of national parties should be given two security personnel each and candidates of state level parties should be given one security personnel each.
Recently, JJP candidate Naina Chautala was attacked in Hisar Lok Sabha constituency. After this, the convoy of BJP candidate Ashok Tanwar was attacked in Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency.
Apart from these, many other JJP leaders including Ranjit Chautala and Mohan Lal Badoli are also facing opposition in the villages. In view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the Chief Electoral Officer has taken the matter seriously.
In this regard, Anurag Aggarwal has instructed DGP Shatrujit Kapoor to ensure the security of the candidates.
On the question of attack on the convoy of BJP candidate Ashok Tanwar in Sirsa and JJP candidate Naina Chautala in Uchana, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda said that he had earlier said that no one should be stopped from going to villages, but people should not allowed to make them go to Lok Sabha Assembly. The democratic way to do this is to vote.
