Haryana Civic Elections Results: Major jolt congress as BJP sweeps 9 out of 10 corporations

At the same time, BJP has won the mayor elections in Rohtak, Hisar, Karnal, Ambala, Sonipat and Faridabad Municipal Corporations. Congress is behind in all the corporations.

The results of the mayor elections of 10 municipal corporations of Haryana have started coming. Independent candidate Dr. Indrajit Yadav won in Manesar Corporation. He defeated BJP candidate Sundar Lal. Indrajit Yadav had campaigned by calling himself close to Union Minister of State and BJP MP from Gurugram Rao Indrajit. At the same time, BJP has won the mayor elections in Rohtak, Hisar, Karnal, Ambala, Sonipat and Faridabad Municipal Corporations. Congress is behind in all the corporations.

BJP’s Dr. Sanjay Jangra has won the chairman post in the Nagar Palika of Julana, the assembly constituency of Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat. Independent candidate Vikas Kumar has become the chairman in Jakhal Mandi Municipal Corporation of Fatehabad district.

BJP has given a crushing defeat to Congress in the Municipal Corporation Mayor elections. The party’s mayor candidate Ram Avtar Valmiki, who had lost the assembly elections from Kalanaur constituency thrice, defeated Congress candidate Surajmal Kiloi by a margin of 45 thousand 191 thousand votes. The special thing is that in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, where Congress had won in Jat dominated wards, BJP had an upper hand in the Mayor elections. In non-Jat dominated wards, Congress has suffered a huge defeat. In the 13 rounds of counting, Congress could not defeat BJP in even a single round.

While BJP put in full effort in the Municipal elections, enthusiasm was not seen in Congress. Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda did not even come to campaign. MP Deepender Hooda took charge of the election campaign. Congress MLAs BB Batra and Shakuntala Khatak were seen campaigning in their constituencies. On the other hand, BJP had put in its full strength. Chief Minister Naib Saini not only came to file the nomination of the Mayor candidate, but also issued the Sankalp Patra for the Municipal elections from Rohtak itself. Apart from this, BJP’s state president Mohan Lal Baroli, Minister Arvind Sharma, Krishnalal Panwar, Krishna Bedi, Shruti Chaudhary, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Krishnalal Middha and former Minister Manish Grover participated in the campaign.
