Jind: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday took cognizance of the incidents of sexual exploitation of students at Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Jind district and issued orders to dismiss Principal Kartar Singh. An official statement said the decision has been taken following the investigation report submitted by the department. More than 100 students of the school had accused their principal of sexual harassment.
An official spokesperson said the government has taken this action in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 311 (B) of the Constitution. The spokesperson shared that in the report sent by the SDM of Uchana, the statements of several students against the misconduct of the Principal were taken into cognizance. Considering the seriousness of the matter and the allegations against the Principal, this action has been taken.
The accused had already been arrested by the police and 16 new staff members as well as a woman principal were appointed in the concerned school. The victim girls wrote a five-page letter to the National Commission for Women on August 31. It was said that the principal is sexually harassing the students with the help of a female teacher. He had alleged that the principal had installed black glass in the window of his room. One of the girls had said in the complaint, “A female teacher sends the girls to their room to meet the principal. The principal touches the girls inappropriately and also speaks in foul language.
