Farmers are suffering a lot due to incidents of fire in wheat crops in the state. In many districts of the state, farmers are protesting against the government, demanding compensation. In such a situation, the government has taken action showing seriousness regarding the loss of crops. Farmers who have suffered loss of life and property related to crops or animals due to incidents of arson in the state will soon get compensation.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini gave instructions after a meeting with senior officials. Farmers of the state affected by arson can apply to the concerned Deputy Commissioners and give information about the loss. At the same time, farmers affected by the loss of crops will be helped in seeds and fertilizers for sowing the upcoming crops.
Under the leadership of District Council Sirsa President Karn Singh Chautala, senior INLD officials, farmer leaders and farmers of various villages demonstrated outside the Mini Secretariat complex on Monday. They demanded compensation of Rs 61 thousand per acre from the government for the destruction of farmers’ crops due to fire. They met the Deputy Commissioner Sirsa with this demand and handed over a memorandum to him in the name of the Chief Minister.
Zila Parishad Chairman and INLD leader Karan Chautala said that recently crops caught fire in various villages of the district like Ludesar, Rupana Darba, Bhurtwala and Chilkani Dhaba etc. Hundreds of acres of wheat and other crops were burnt to ashes. He said that the government had given compensation of 61 thousand rupees per acre to the farmers for harvesting their crops for a political program in Yamuna Nagar. On the same lines, the government should get a special Girdawari done and give compensation of 61 thousand rupees per acre to the farmers of Sirsa district. Along with the crops, the farmers’ solar tube wells and tractors etc. have also been damaged. The government should compensate them too.
