Relief to Haryana farmers: Government extend deadline for purchasing sunflower

Keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the government has decided to extend the period of crop purchase.

The Haryana government has given big relief to the farmers of the state. The Saini government has extended the period of purchase of sunflower. Under the new orders issued by the government, the time limit for sunflower purchase has been extended for the next three days. In such a situation, now sunflowers can be purchased till July 3.

A spokesperson of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that due to rain in the month of June this year, the sunflower crop was harvested late, as a result of which there was a delay in selling the crop at the minimum price in the market by the farmers. Keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the government has decided to extend the period of crop purchase.

Farmers have got relief from this decision of the government. The work of purchasing sunflower is being done by two procurement organizations Hafed and Haryana Ware Housing Corporation in the state. During the year 2025-26, 47300 metric tonnes (MT) of sunflower has been purchased. Whereas last year 38903 MT was purchased.
