Haryana: Farmer’s protest was not visible in voting; less voting pc than 2019

65% voting took place in 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana on Saturday (May 25). This turnout is 5% less than 2019's 70.34%. Despite low turnout, BJP seems happy in Haryana. There is despair within the Congress.

Panchkula : 65% voting took place in 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana on Saturday (May 25). This turnout is 5% less than 2019’s 70.34%. Despite low turnout, BJP seems happy in Haryana. There is despair within the Congress.

The reason for this is that the way BJP was being opposed regarding the farmers’ movement, Congress was expecting bumper voting. However, nothing like this seemed to be happening.

First of all, if we talk about Jatland, it has Sonipat, Rohtak, Hisar and Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seats. Voting was 64.6% in Rohtak, 62.3% in Sonipat, 65.3% in Bhiwani-Mahendragarh and 64.07% in Hisar.

The farmers’ movement had the greatest impact on the GT road belt. It has Kurukshetra, Ambala, Karnal and Sonipat Lok Sabha seats. Congress was hoping that the resentment here would come in the form of increase in voting percentage in their favour.

Voting in Gurugram and Faridabad of South Haryana was less than 60%. This is also a shock for Congress but BJP is considering it in its favour.

Congress may be happy with the increased voting in Sirsa seat because here too the farmers’ movement was in full force and the BJP candidate even had to face violent opposition. In such a situation, this increased voting is being considered in favor of Congress.

Political expert said – not the wave of any one person
According to political experts, it is clear from the low turnout that there was no wave in favor of any one party in Haryana. Due to this, the results on June 4 may be mixed.

What is certain is that in 2019, where BJP had won seats by a huge margin, that margin may reduce. Yes, where BJP won with less votes, there is every possibility of an upset.

The special thing is that voting was more in small towns and rural areas than in urban areas. This is increasing the concern of BJP. On one hand, Modi wave and Ram Mandir issue could not be fully capitalized in cities, while farmers in villages were opposing them. However, Congress is not very happy with this because apart from them, these votes can also be distributed among INLD.

Heat was also a big factor
Heat was also a big factor for low voting percentage in Haryana. Extreme heat is going on in more than 15 districts of the state. The situation is so bad that the maximum temperature here has remained above 46 for the last 10 days. Along with this, heat wave is also going on here.

For this reason, a large section of people coming to vote and especially the youth remained sitting at home.
