Tragic Incident: Six school children dead as overspeeded bus overturns, driver allegedly inerbiated

Prime facie overspeeding was the cause of the accident, said an official.

Mahendragarh: Five children were killed and several others injured after an overloaded bus of a private school went out of control and overturned in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district on Thursday.

A total of 35 to 40 children were onboard the bus at the time of the accident. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals, police said.

Prime facie overspeeding was the cause of the accident, said an official.

As per the initial reports, the school bus was of GL Public School which overturned near Unhani village of Kanina. It is also said that Bus driver was drunk and in an inebriated state he rammed the bus into tree following which it overturned.

Dr Ravi Kaushik of Nihal Hospital said, “our students were brought dead and one critical student who was put on a ventilator passed away at the hospital.15 injured students have been referred to another hospital. SDM and administration present.”
