Haryana: The Haryana government has appointed Himmat Singh as the new chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC). Earlier, he was working as an Assistant Advocate General of the Haryana government. Due to the Model code of conduct being in force during the Lok Sabha elections, it was not announced. Now after the code of conduct is lifted, Haryana government has issued a notification for the appointment of Himmat Singh as chairman of HSSC.
Himmat Singh was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Chief Minister Naib Saini in Chandigarh. Now the recruitment of the government posts which are stuck in the state will be expedited.
Currently, Finance Department Secretary Anurag Rastogi was given additional responsibility for the commission.
Himmat Singh belongs to the Rod community. In the form of becoming the chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, the Rod caste has got a big representation in the government. Talking about Karnal and Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, the Rod caste has a good influence here.
Apart from this, Himmat Singh has also been a part of the e-custody certificate initiative, development and implementation of the Digital India campaign. He has also served as the co-ordinator of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) data integration project in Haryana.
Bhopal Singh Khadri was earlier the chairman of HSSC. He resigned on 15 March 2024. Khadri took this decision after Naib Saini became the Chief Minister on 12 March. He is counted among the confidants of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal. He has also been the secretary of former Union Minister late Ratanlal Kataria. Bhopal Singh has also been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
Himmat Singh is a resident of Khedi Matarwa village in Kaithal district. He has done BA-LLB and LLM from Kurukshetra University. It has been about 16 years since he has been practicing as a lawyer. Currently he is handling the responsibility of Additional Advocate General (AAG).
