Haryana Government to include history of Maharaja Surajmal in 8th class curriculum

Descendant of the Bharatpur royal family and former cabinet minister Vishvendra Singh has also expressed gratitude to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for the approval to teach the history of Maharaja Surajmal.

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has played a master stroke to woo the Jats before the assembly elections in Delhi. The government has included the history of Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur in the 8th-class books. The population of the Jat community in Haryana is about 22.2 percent. Apart from this, people of the Jat community also live in Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

In Haryana, the Jats have a good hold on about 35 assembly seats in Rohtak, Sonipat, Kaithal, Panipat, Jind, Sirsa, Jhajjar, Fatehabad, Hisar and Bhiwani districts. Due to this this area is also called Jatland. Jats have their influence on about 10 out of 70 seats in Delhi. These seats are Mehrauli, Najafgarh, Bijwasan, Palam, Matiala, Vikaspuri, Nangloi Jat, Narela, Rithala and Mundka, which are adjacent to Haryana.
