Palwal: In Palwal, Haryana, the police recovered drugs worth Rs 50 lakh being taken to Punjab in a truck. The police took the truck into custody and arrested its conductor, while the driver escaped, taking advantage of the darkness. The CIA Hathin team has started the action by registering a case at the Mundkati police station.
Hathin CIA in-charge Deepak Gulia said that he received information that a large quantity of drugs was being brought in a truck from Agra. The truck will go to Punjab via Palwal on National Highway 19. On receiving the information, his team blocked the National Highway 19 near Mundkati police station. When the truck was seen coming and signalled to stop, the driver stopped the truck at a distance, jumped off, and ran away. The conductor tried to run away, but the police caught him.
When the truck was searched under the supervision of DSP Naresh Kumar, a large quantity of drugs, like poppy husk, was found in the old batteries and plastic sacks kept in the truck. The truck was completely covered with tarpaulin. DSP Naresh Kumar said that after checking when the stolen poppy husk was weighed, it was 593 kg (500 grams). Its market price is around 50 lakh rupees.
On the complaint of CIA Hathin’s investigating officer, SI Jamshed Ali, Mundkati police station registered a case against truck driver Pappu Singh and conductor Gursharan Singh. Police arrested the accused conductor, Gursharan Singh, a resident of Badrukha village in Sangrur district (Punjab), while driver Pappu Singh managed to escape from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness.
