Haryana: Rain alert for 14 districts; bad weather expected till 5 feb

Bhiwani: Western disturbance has become active in Haryana. There is fog in Panipat, Jind, Bhiwani, Palwal, Sonipat and Raniyan of Sirsa. Cold wave is blowing. This has increased the chill.

The weather department has issued a rain alert in the state today (Monday). There may be rain in 14 districts. These include Bhiwani, Jind, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal and Mewat.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in these districts. Strong winds will also blow. There is a possibility of light rain in the state continuously till 5 February.

According to the weather department, there will be continuous cold in the first fortnight (15 days) of February. However, the intensity of cold will reduce in the second fortnight.

Earlier on Sunday, the coldest area in the state was Pandu Pindara in Jind, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 19.4 degrees.

This time the fog is falling late

The effect of fog has reduced a bit in the last 24 hours in the state. Although fog remained in some areas, but the visibility was more than before. Meteorologists say that fog occurs in February, but this time it is falling a little late. Fog started falling in many districts at 10 pm on Sunday night.

According to Dr. Madan Khichad, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology, Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), 5 to 6 western disturbances are likely to be active in the month of February. Out of these, only 2 western disturbances are likely to cause light rain. Changes in the weather will be seen in the first fortnight of February.

He said that western disturbance will be active on February 3, February 11 and February 15. This will change the weather. There will be fluctuations in day and night temperatures. There is a possibility of light rain.

If the temperature keeps decreasing then Rabi crops will benefit

Agricultural scientists say that the mercury should not rise much now. If the night temperature keeps decreasing then Rabi crops will benefit. If western disturbances keep coming and the mercury drops due to this then the crops will benefit.

37 percent less rain in 2025

The state has received 37 percent less rain than normal this year. From 1 January to 2 February, the state has received 9.4 mm of rain, while the normal rainfall is 14.9 mm. However, in December 2024, the state received 26.1 mm of rain, which was 328 percent more than normal.
