Haryana: Scam in the name of four lakh fake students, Investigation not complete after six years, CBI asks for more time

Along with this, the Director General of Haryana's Primary Education Directorate has also been directed to fully cooperate in the investigation process and provide the relevant documents quickly.

Even after the order issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court six years ago, the CBI has not been able to complete the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of government funds in the name of about four lakh fake students in Haryana government schools. The CBI has sought some more time from the court for the investigation. The High Court has given four months’ time. Along with this, the Director General of Haryana’s Primary Education Directorate has also been directed to fully cooperate in the investigation process and provide the relevant documents quickly.

The division bench of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Meenakshi I Mehta passed this order during the disposal of the petition which was filed by the CBI regarding the investigation of this case. The CBI informed the court in its demand that it has re-registered seven FIRs in this case so far and has started a detailed investigation process, which is still going on.

Many such aspects have come to light in the investigation, which require in-depth investigation. Along with this, analysis and consolidation of huge amounts of data also has to be done, which is a time-consuming process. That is why the agency requested the court to give it four months’ extra time. It was also prayed that the Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education be directed to cooperate fully in the investigation and provide the necessary documents on time.

The High Court clarified that if any person obstructs the investigation, the CBI will have full freedom to take appropriate action as per the law. The CBI had also requested the court to direct the Registrar General to provide copies of the affidavits and other documents filed by the Education Department and the Haryana Government. On this, the court clarified that for this, the CBI will have to submit a proper application before the Registrar General as per the rules.
