Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the proposed Terminal-2 at the airport on Monday. The estimated cost of construction of this terminal is around Rs 413 crore. This terminal will be ready by 17 April 2027.
According to the information, a passenger terminal building, a cargo terminal building and an air traffic control will be constructed in the new terminal. The passenger terminal building will be built in 37,790 square meters, while the cargo terminal building will be built in 2235 square meters. The capacity of this terminal will be 21 lakh passengers per year. It will be built in the shape of a conch.
The total cost of the airport construction so far and the cost of future work is estimated to be around Rs 1655 crore. This airport is on 4200 acres of land, while an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) will be built on 3 thousand acres of land adjacent to it. 10 airplanes can be parked on the apron built at the airport. At present, airplanes with a capacity of 180 passengers can take off from this runway.
Air services to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh will be available 3 days a week
At present, flight services are available from the airport only to Ayodhya and Delhi and that too for two days a week. At the same time, air services to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh will be available 3 days a week. However, their schedule and fares have not been announced yet.
