The Panchayat has announced that any person in the village who wastes water will be fined Rs 1,000.

In view of the increasing problem of water crisis in the villages of Hisar, the Gram Panchayat has started a water conservation campaign in Budhakheda village of Uklana tehsil of the district. The objective of this campaign is to spread awareness about water conservation among the villagers and to prevent misuse of water. The Panchayat has announced that any person in the village who wastes water will be fined Rs 1,000. Water has not been coming in  the village for one and a quarter months.

Budhakheda’s Sarpanch Sukhwinder Bhadu and all the members of the Panchayat led this campaign and appealed to the villagers to use water wisely and not waste it. The Sarpanch said that the Panchayat has decided that whenever there will be water supply in the village, if any person leaves the tap open or spills water in the streets, then he will be warned for the first time. A fine of up to Rs 1000 will be imposed for the second mistake.

Sarpanch Sukhwinder Bhadu said that during water supply, police, administration and water department employees will patrol the village to ensure compliance with the rules. This step will not only ensure water conservation but will also instill a sense of discipline and responsibility among the people.

It is worth noting that Uklana Minor has been closed for one and a quarter months and water is expected to come around 20 May. Water has started drying up in water tanks.
