Hisar: Congress fields candidates in 13 out of 20 wards, supports independents in remaining 7

Congress has been able to field councillor candidates on its symbol in only 13 out of 20 wards

Congress had to make a lot of efforts to find a councillor in Haryana’s Hisar Municipal Corporation. The situation was such that on the last day of nomination, Congress had to contact the candidate itself to get support. Congress is contesting elections on its symbol in Hisar this time. This is the first time that Congress has fielded councillor candidates on its symbol.

Candidates are not showing interest in contesting elections on the Congress symbol. The reason for this is factionalism, Congress’ lost ground in Hisar and many other reasons. Congress has not been able to win assembly elections in the city after 2009. Savitri Jindal, who was once in Congress, is now with BJP.

In such a situation, Congress has called independents and supported them. Congress could not find candidates in 11 to 15 and 20 wards. Congress has been able to field councillor candidates on its symbol in only 13 out of 20 wards. While Congress could not find all the councillors to contest on its symbol, Congress’s assembly candidate in the mayor election, Ramniwas Rada, is contesting as an independent candidate by turning rebel.
