Kurukshetra: Haryana Gurudwara Sikh Management Committee (HSGMC) in Kurukshetra has expressed strong anger over the retirement of Jathedars of 3 Takht Sahiban of Punjab. Executive head of the committee Jathedar Bhupendra Singh Asandh says that this decision is against Gurumat Maryada and Sikh tradition. The committee will soon organize a program in honor of the retired Jathedars. This program will be held in the historic Gurudwara Sahib of Kurukshetra or Jind.
According to Jathedar Bhupendra Singh Asandh, the process of removing the Jathedars of Takht Sahib is completely unfair and dictatorial. No consultation was done with the Nihang Jathebandis and Sant Mahapurushas in this regard. Imposing arbitrary decisions on the highest posts of the Sikh community is reprehensible.
He accused the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of appointing a new Jathedar at Takht Kesgarh Sahib at midnight as improper, as Sri Guru Granth Sahib were not present at that time. Therefore, it is wrong to perform this ritual.
Badal is imposing unfair decisions on the community
Former committee spokesperson Kanwaljit Singh Ajrana said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the supreme institution of the Sikh community, but Sukhbir Singh Badal is weakening it by applying political pressure.
It was alleged that Badal himself had admitted before Sri Akal Takht Sahib that he had a role in the Behbal Kalan firing incident, pardon to Sachcha Sauda chief and protection of culprits in sacrilege cases. Therefore, the Jathedar Sahiban who punished him are being forcibly removed. This is causing anger in the entire Sikh community.
