Rohtak: In Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak, NSUI protested against the fee hike. During the protest, there was a lot of ruckus at the gate. The students tried to close the gate of the university. While the security personnel tried to open the gate forcefully. Due to which there was a scuffle between the students and security personnel.
The students protested against the fee hike and demanded that the increased fee be withdrawn.
NSUI student leader Avinash said that MDU has increased the fee by 5 times. Also, warning that if the increased fee is not withdrawn, then the movement will continue.
Students from 13 organisations have decided to protest against the increased fees at MDU. These include CEM, AIDSO, CYSS, Disha, SFI, AMVA, JSO, INSO, ISO, Shahid Bhagat Singh Student Organization, NSUI, NSO, and Jan Sevak Manch Student Organization, and have formed a joint student struggle committee. Also, all the student organisations have decided that no minister or leader will be allowed to enter the university until the hike fee is withdrawn.
Student leaders have said that the fee for B.Sc. and B.Com course was Rs 8592 earlier, which has now increased to Rs 40660. At the same time, the fee for BA was Rs 8522, which has now increased to Rs 30660. The fee for BBA, BCA and BTTM was Rs 43692 last year, which has now increased to Rs 61650.
