Haryana: In Jind a person who was getting a new ATM card activated after getting it made was cheated. An unknown person changed his ATM card and duped him of Rs 27,380. Jind police has registered a case against the unknown person and started investigation.
In a complaint to the police, Sukhchain Singh, a resident of village Bishanpura, said that he has opened an bank account in Punjab National Bank located on Jind Road and for that he got the new ATM card. He went for activating the ATM card it in the machine. Then a person came from behind and asked how much time it would take.
Sukhchain told that the new PIN is not being generated, on this the accused took the ATM card from him and helped him in making the PIN and after making the PIN, changed his ATM card and gave it to him. Sukhchain could not know at that time but after some time he got a message of Rs 10,000 being deducted from his bank account twice. When he checked the message, this money was withdrawn from the ATM near Rani Talab.
At the same time, a message came about withdrawal of another five thousand rupees and an online transaction of Rs 2280. When he checked his ATM card, he found it changed. Sukhchain alleged that the same person has cheated him by changing his ATM card. Jind police station has registered a case of fraud against unknown person and started investigation.
