The bail plea of Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on suspicion of spying for Pakistan, was heard in the court. There was a debate between the lawyers of both the sides for about 20 minutes. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Sunil Kumar has rejected the bail plea of Jyoti Malhotra.

Lawyer Kumar Mukesh had filed Jyoti Malhotra’s bail plea in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class on Tuesday. Hearing this, the court had sought a reply from the police on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Assistant District Attorney Mandeep Barak of the Prosecution Department presented his side on behalf of the government.

The government lawyer, while presenting his side in the court, said that Jyoti was in contact with Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO) from 2023 to 2025. Due to this, a case is made against him under section 152 of BNS. Jyoti was in contact with Pakistani agent Danish. It was argued on behalf of the government lawyer that Jyoti’s bank accounts are still under investigation. Some reports are yet to come in this. The agency sponsoring Jyoti’s Pakistan tour will also be questioned.

When Jyoti Malhotra went to a Gurudwara in Pakistan with a religious group, she shared a room with one of Danish’s friends. It is possible that a Pakistani agent was also present there at that time. In such a case, this fact will also be investigated.

According to the rules, the person going in the group should not contact any agency there. One has to follow the rules of the group. Jyoti got VIP treatment there. Punjab Police has arrested Jasbir on charges of spying for Pakistan. He has a connection with Jyoti. Police is also considering taking him on a production warrant. It is possible that both of them may have to be questioned face to face. In such a case, there may be a need to take Jyoti on remand again.
