Faridabad: Late yesterday, an elderly man’s body was found floating in a drain in Faridabad. The police reached the spot as soon as they got the information and sent him for a postmortem after an investigation. The incident is in Sector 22.
The deceased has been identified as Rameshwar Sharma (60), a resident of Jawahar Colony. He fell into the drain 20 days ago. The deceased’s family and eyewitnesses have accused the police of negligence.
Children saw him falling into the drain.
Resident Rohtas and social worker Dolly said that the body of the elderly man was recovered from the drain during cleaning today. On June 30, this elderly man fell into the drain. The children saw him and told them that someone had fallen inside it.
After listening to the children, they informed the SHO and outpost in charge of the police station about the incident. But the police did not take any action on this matter. The police had said that if someone falls, the body will come up automatically.
He said that after receiving the information, Dial 112 reached the spot and took a bag from there, but no one tried to take it out. Due to the negligence of the police, the body was recovered after 20 days.
The police is investigating the case.
SHO Darpan said that the family members of the deceased had lodged a missing person’s case with the Saran police station, and now, after finding the body, the Saran police station is investigating the case.
