Chandigarh: The names of candidates for half a dozen Lok Sabha of Haryana seats can be announced in the meeting of the Central Election Committee of Congress to be held on March 18.
Film actor and senior Congress leader Raj Babbar can be made to contest elections from any Lok Sabha seat of Haryana this time. There is talk in the political circles of Congress that if the high command agrees to let Raj Babbar contest elections from Haryana, then names can be offered for Faridabad, Gurugram and Karnal Lok Sabha seats.
Faridabad and Gurugram Lok Sabha seats are close to Delhi, while outgoing Chief Minister Manohar Lal is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Karnal seat. Congress also has a strong candidate here in the form of Sardar Trilochan Singh. There is even discussion in political circles that if for some reason BJP does not give ticket to sitting MP Dr. Arvind Sharma in Rohtak, then Congress can field him in front of Manohar Lal in Karnal, but this is a matter for later.
Congress’s strategy is to win elections on as many seats as possible. For this, it can also field senior leaders in the electoral battle. After the meeting, Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria said that the final panel has been prepared in the third meeting of the screening committee. One to two name panels have been made on each seat. The list can be released after the meeting to be held on March 18.
