New Delhi: Dera chief Baba Ram Rahim has received a setback from the Supreme Court in the case of sacrilege of Shri Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari. The Supreme Court has lifted the stay imposed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this case. The apex court has issued a notice to Ram Rahim in this case. Also, a reply has been sought in four weeks.
About seven months ago, the Punjab Haryana High Court gave a big relief to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim and stayed the ongoing proceedings of the sacrilege case that took place in Faridkot district. A petition was filed in the High Court by Gurmeet Singh demanding that the three cases registered in the sacrilege case be investigated by the CBI instead of the Punjab government’s SIT.
At that time Gurmeet Singh said that he is being deliberately implicated in this case, in such a situation, the orders that the government has canceled to get the FIR related to the sacrilege case investigated by the CBI should be canceled and this case should be investigated by the CBI only.
Filing its reply on the said petition, the state government had told the High Court that in this case, the state government had also passed a resolution in the assembly withdrawing the order of CBI investigation, and the SIT is investigating the said case on the orders of the High Court, and now it is wrong for the Dera chief to make this demand, in view of which the petitioner’s petition should be rejected.
