Mock drill to be held in Haryana and Chandigarh today postponed, drill to be held in Punjab on June 3

The mock drill was to include practice of defending against air strikes like drones. Sirens were to be sounded.

Under Operation Shield, the mock drill and blackout scheduled to be held in Haryana and Chandigarh on May 29, i.e. today, has been postponed. The mock drill has been postponed after the Center’s decision. Now the mock drill will be held later and the date will be announced separately by the Center. The mock drill was to include practice of defending against air strikes like drones. Sirens were to be sounded.

Along with this, a mock drill will be held on June 3 at 7 pm in 6 districts of Punjab bordering Pakistan, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka. DGP Civil Defense Sanjiv Kalra said that a letter has been written to the Central Government for this because the Civil Defense staff is currently engaged in training.

When the dispute between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, these 6 districts were also affected the most. Earlier, a mock drill was conducted in Haryana and Punjab on May 7. During this, people were alerted by sounding sirens to warn of an air strike.

Operation Sindoor took place on the night of May 6-7

After the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, India carried out air strikes on 9 terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan on the night of May 6-7. The army killed 100 terrorists. It was named Operation Sindoor and since then tensions between India and Pakistan have increased.
