Haryana: travel becomes cheaper, Post-Elections

45 new electric buses will join the roadways fleet after the elections.

Haryana: People are enjoying riding electric buses very much. Six and a half to seven thousand people travel daily in five electric buses in Panipat. Getting the good response of electric buses, 45 new buses will be included in Panipat depot after the Model code of conduct.

At present, the buses running now travel from the new bus stand of Panipat to the toll plaza. These buses were started from 28 January 2024.

Passengers prefer to travel in this bus. In two months, Panipat depot has received a revenue of about Rs 40 lakh from these buses.

The permanent location of the Electric City Bus Service will be the old bus stand. A charging station is being prepared here. This will be a state-of-the-art charging station and will also have a stand to be built at a cost of around Rs 7 crore. From where people will board these buses. A tender was floated for the construction of this charging station in April. According to the deadline, it will be ready by the first week of August.

After the number of electric buses increases, they will be operated within a radius of 40 kilometers. That means passengers will be able to travel in these buses from Panipat to Samalkha, Israna, Matlauda and Gohana.

The speed limit of these buses has been fixed. If you drive at a speed of more than 50 kilometers per hour, a message will be sent to the control room; if you drive faster, the driver will have to respond.

Seven CCTV cameras are installed in the electric bus. There are often scuffles in buses, or incidents of theft or snatching, but these buses are monitored by CCTV.

The fare for electric buses equipped with modern facilities is also simple. Like normal buses, the fare in these buses has also been kept the same. But staff members or pass holders are not allowed to travel in this.

After increasing the number of buses, the arbitrariness of auto drivers will be curbed. At night, when the number of buses reduces, auto drivers charge people arbitrary fare. By increasing the number of buses, buses will be available on time. This will curb the arbitrariness of auto drivers.

After the increase in the number of electric buses, people will use their personal cars less and will travel in these buses. This will not only reduce pollution but will also provide relief to the people of the city from traffic jams.
