Protest against new seed law in Haryana: Shops closed in Ambala and Kurukshetra

Haryana Seeds and Pesticide Association demonstrated for their demands.

Ambala seed sellers on Monday protested by keeping their shops closed against the new seed fertilizer law passed in Haryana. Ambala has about 1600 seed seller shops. After the law was passed, all the shops remained closed on Monday. All orders have been put on hold by the companies.

Ambala Seed Pesticide Fertilizer Dealer Association chief Rajkumar Gupta said that the involvement of police in the new law will increase the problems of shopkeepers. He said that every year the officials of the Agriculture Department check the quality of seeds. If any kind of deficiency was found, the matter would go under the court. In which shopkeepers would get relief.

He said that the manufacturer buys seeds from the company and sells it. The shopkeeper buys seeds from the company itself. If any deficiency is found, action should be taken against the company. Whereas now shopkeepers have also been included in the law.

Now, the police can also investigate in the law. Along with this, if the shopkeeper is found guilty, he will not get bail. Along with this, the fine has also been increased by several times. At present, on the call of the state-level association, it has been decided to keep the shops closed for a week.

Haryana Seeds and Pesticide Association demonstrated for their demands. During this, the government was asked to amend the Haryana Seeds and Pesticide Act. Under the leadership of the association’s head Sandeep Nain, about 146 shopkeepers of Tohana closed their shops and demonstrated. Head Sandeep Nain said that under this law made by the government, if the shopkeeper’s sample fails, a case will be filed against him and he will be sent to jail, which is not completely fair.

The government has made such laws as if the seed sellers are terrorists. As per the instructions of the association, a week-long strike is being held under which the demonstration is being held. If the government does not listen to them, the demonstration will be made indefinite. The Chief Minister should consider this and change the law after talking to the officials of the association.
