Karnal: Protests by arhtiyas have started with the beginning of grain procurement in Karnal Mandi. As per the government the procurement of wheat will start from April 1. Before the procurement, arhtiyas are seen protesting once again. Haryana State Agent Association has started a five-day strike in Karnal regarding their demands.
The main demand of the arhtiyas is that their commission rate of 2.5 percent should be fixed the commission agents say that their commission rate has been fixed at Rs 46. When two and a half percent of MSP becomes Rs 57 at Rs 2275, there is a loss of Rs 11 on every quintal. This is why, arhtiyas are protesting against the government regarding this matter.
Karnal Mandi head Rajneesh Chaudhary and other commission agents told that they have been demanding from the government for the last two years.
He said that the government has fixed his commission on the crop, but he should get two and a half percent commission like before. The wheat which goes directly into the silo should go through the market so that they can get commission.
At the same time, the demand of the middlemen is that the wheat coming from UP should be allowed to come and it should not be banned. The government has banned the arrival of wheat from any other state.
This protest will continue continuously for 5 days. This performance will be for 2 hours every day. It remains to be seen how long the demands of the farmers will be accepted.
