Punjab youths arrested with 137 kg poppy husk in Rohtak; case registered under NDPS Act

Police started the investigation by registering a case against the accused under NDPS Act.

Rohtak Police has launched a campaign against drugs. In this episode, the team of Anti Narcotics Cell arrested two youths with drugs near the village Dobh. Police started the investigation by registering a case against the accused under NDPS Act.

Investigating officer of Anti Narcotics Cell, PSI Manoj Kumar, said that the police had received secret information that two youths were trying to go to another state with drugs. Based on the information, the police arrested two youths near the village of Dobh and recovered 137 kg 460 grams of poppy husk from the accused.

Manoj Kumar said that the ANC staff team, under the leadership of Sandeep, was patrolling near Sugar Mill Bhiwani Road near village Bhali Anandpur. During patrolling, information was received that two youths were involved in the illegal business of selling drugs and were going towards another state. Taking immediate action on the information, a blockade was done near the under-construction flyover in village Dobh near Outer Bypass and checking of vehicles was started.

Investigating officer Manoj Kumar said that a car was coming from Sampla. When the police signaled to stop the car, the accused turned the car around and started running. The police broke the glass of the car and caught the youth. The youths were identified as Ekpreet, resident of Kila Patti Handiya district, Barnal, Punjab, and Gurpree, the son of Gurujanat resident of Jhaneri district, Sangrur Punjab.

Investigating officer Manoj Kumar said that on searching the car, 9 plastic bags were found, which were filled with poppy husk. The total weight of the bags was 137 kg 460 grams. A mobile phone, worth 5 thousand rupees, were recovered from the accused Gurpreet and a mobile phone from Ekpreet. The car and the recovered drugs were seized, and a case was registered against the accused at Bahu Akbarpur police station.
