Rain and storm alert in 18 districts of Haryana today

An alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued in 18 districts of Haryana on Saturday.

Chandigarh: An alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued in 18 districts of Haryana on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, there is an orange alert for rain in Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Jhajjar. Whereas, there is a yellow alert in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa.

Earlier on Friday, the pandal erected for the BJP rally in Hisar collapsed due to the storm. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Hisar airport here on April 14. The tent of Minister Krishan Lal Pawar’s program in Charkhi Dadri flew away in the storm. In Gurugram, a car got stuck under a signage board, in which 2 people were injured. At the same time, in Jhajjar, 2 cars collided in the storm, in which 4 people were injured.

On the other hand, wheat lying in the open in the grain market got wet due to rain in Sirsa, Jind and Sonipat. In Jakhal and Nagla villages of Fatehabad, the standing crop in the field caught fire due to lightning. In Karnal, an electricity pole broke due to the storm. Many vehicles were damaged due to the collapse of the wall of the Volkswagen car showroom near Madhuban.

Rain has worsened the situation in Sirsa. The city roads have caved in and potholes have formed at many places. Videos of a truck and a school bus sinking on the road have also surfaced. Apart from this, the wheat kept in the open in Anaj Mandi and Nathusari Chowpata Mandi got wet. Storm and rain have caused loss of life and property in Hisar. Due to the storm, one person died and one got injured in a road accident in Hansi.
