Irrigation department removes unauthorized pipes on Yamuna embankment to prevent flood damage

According to officials, excess water in the Yamuna causes damage to the embankment through the pipes and bills.

Panipat: In the Sanauli area of the Panipat district of Haryana, under flood management in Yamuna, teams of the irrigation department have uprooted the pipes installed by farmers for tubewell water in various villages in an area of about 37 km from village Rana Majra to Hathwala Rakseda on the Yamuna embankment adjacent to the villages of Sanauli and Bapouli. So that when there is excess water in Yamuna, these pipes do not cause any damage to the embankment.

Teams of five JEs of the irrigation department have been uprooting the pipes installed by farmers on the Yamuna embankment with the help of JCB for the last several days. At the same time, if any bill, etc. is found in the Yamuna embankment, it is also being closed. According to officials, excess water in the Yamuna causes damage to the embankment through the pipes and bills.

Regarding this, the Irrigation Department’s XEN Suresh Saini and SDO Sarvjeet Singh say that the pipes installed by farmers anywhere on the Yamuna embankment from Rana Majra to Hathwala have been uprooted and the embankment has been strengthened. Soil is being filled in the erosion inside the embankment. The farmers who have fields on both sides of the Yamuna embankment dig the embankment and lay water pipes to bring water from their tubewells to the fields, which are being uprooted.
