Charkhi Dadri: The sanitation workers in Charkhi Dadri district are protesting as they have not received their salary for the last three months. On Saturday, the anger of the workers burst out, and they went on strike. Garbage was not even lifted. Due to this garbage piled up at many places. During this, the workers expressed their anger by staging a sit-in in the Charkhi Dadri Municipal Council office premises and demanding payment of the pending salary.
During this, the municipal councillor representative also reached the protest in support of the employees. The sanitation workers gathered in the Municipal Council office premises under the leadership of tipper driver Amit Kumar after not receiving their salary for three months. They decided not to pick garbage by going on strike and sat on a sit-in there. Councillor representative Virendra Sangwan Charkhi, who reached out in support of the striking workers, said that the garbage lifting agency has not been paying the employee’s salaries for the last three months, due to which the employees have decided to go on strike. Cleaning supervisors have not been paid salaries by the agency for the last 6 months.
He said that ever since garbage collection has been given to a private agency, the cleaning system in the city has collapsed, but the Municipal Council is not paying any attention to it. He alleged that officers and chairmen involved in corruption are charging huge commissions. Also, workers demanded the cancellation of the contract system with immediate effect and urged the government to start the same system as was done earlier through the Municipal Council.
