The campaign for the by-election for the post of Sarpanch in five villages of Ambala district came to an end at 5 pm on Friday under the code of conduct. But the candidates kept trying to reach out to the voters through internet media.
Voting will be held in these five villages on Sunday, June 15. These include Azampur and Lakhnoura villages of Block Narayangarh, Kathgarh village of Ambala Pratham, Sajjan Majri of Block Barada and Nasrauli village of Block Shahzadpur.
There was a lot of campaigning
The candidates and their supporters are seeking support from the voters by resorting to internet media. Along with this, promotional material posters, photos and videos are also being uploaded. However, now efforts are also on to maintain personal contact in a secret manner.
All preparations have been completed by the district administration to conduct the election process in a peaceful and transparent manner. After the pilot rehearsal on Saturday, EVM machines and voter lists will be handed over to the presiding officer, polling officer, supervisor, sector and duty magistrate.
Voters will exercise their right to vote
Three candidates Satish Kumar, Darshan Lal and Jagdish are in the fray for the post of Sarpanch in village Sajjan Majri of block Barad. A total of 357 voters, including 170 men and 187 women, will exercise their right to vote at the only polling booth number 199 in the primary school located in the village. The village is divided into a total of 6 wards.
