Haryana: School timings changed, now classes will start from 7 am, holidays also announced

In the warning issued by the Meteorological Department in Haryana, it has been said that heat wave will continue from 17 to 21 May.

Haryana: As the intesification of heat in the state continues, Haryana administration have made change in school timings due to the scorching heat in Haryana. Now schools will start from seven in the morning. Single shift schools will be closed at 12 noon. Whereas in double shift schools, the first shift will start from 7 am and the second shift will start from 12.45 pm.

The education department has also announced school holidays. There will be a holiday in schools from June 1 to June 30.


Haryana will remain in the grip of heat wave for five days.


Haryana will be scorching for the next five days. Along with heat, the temperature can reach up to 46 degrees Celsius. The mercury may rise by 2 degrees in the next one or two days. Weather experts have issued yellow and orange alerts for different districts in this regard.

Although it will have an impact across the state, the heat will be at its peak in Mahendragarh, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rewari and other districts of South Haryana.

There is a fear that the mercury may even cross 47 degrees. In some parts of the state the temperature may go up to 41 to 43 degrees Celsius. In the next five days, the mercury may go up to 42 to 44 degrees in the districts of North Haryana and 45 to 46 degrees in the districts of South Haryana.

Due to sudden rise in mercury, electricity consumption has also increased. Within a week the demand for electricity has increased by more than one thousand MW. Whereas on May 9, the maximum supply was 9984 MW, but now the demand has reached 11 thousand MW. Due to increase in heat, coolers and ACs have started running, due to which there is more demand for power supply. Meteorologists say that there will be heat and heat waves in June, hence there will be peak demand for electricity in the month of June and it is possible that a total of 14 thousand MW electricity may be consumed.


Nautapa is considered to be the hottest time for 9 days. This time Nautapa is going to start from May 25, which will continue till June 2. It is believed that the more intense the heat is in Nautapa, the better it rains for four months. Secondly, during Nautapa there are no insects and hence the possibility of spreading diseases is less. However, last year there was a lot of rain during the days of Nautapa.
