Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made a big announcement regarding Shamlat Deh land while answering a question in the state assembly on Wednesday (March 12). He said that the government will investigate the matter related to the transfer of ‘Shamlat Deh’ land to the Waqf Board from any village in the state. CM Nayab Singh Saini made this announcement in the House after concerns were raised in the Assembly over the Peer Bodhi land located on Rohtak-Gohana Road.
He said that a committee will be formed under the leadership of Rohtak Divisional Commissioner to investigate the Peer Bodhi case located on Rohtak-Gohana road. Karnal Divisional Commissioner and District Deputy Commissioner Rohtak will be members of this committee. This committee will thoroughly investigate all the facts and records related to the Peer Bodhi issue.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said in the House, “We will investigate this in the whole of Haryana. If Shamlat Deh land (village land used for common purposes) from any village has been transferred to the Waqf Board anywhere, then a thorough investigation will be conducted.”
What is the whole matter?
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has taken seriously the Peer Bodhi issue raised by the member of the House. He said, “The facts that have come to light in the investigation of this matter so far revealed that in 1967-68 this land was Shamlat Deh land. In the year 1990, this land was notified in the name of Punjab Waqf Board by the Government of India. After that this land was registered as a cemetery. Now this land is in the name of the Waqf Board.”
According to Haryana Chief Minister Saini, how Shamlat Deh land was transferred to the Waqf Board is a serious matter. Which power was behind this and who were the people involved? How did they transfer it to the Waqf Board? Now in 2024, after a long legal process, this land came under the management of the Waqf Board and is now leased out.
