How did the accident happen
45-year-old Satbir, a resident of Sargathal village of Gohana, had come to fill water on Thursday with his 14-year-old son Jatin on the banks of JLN canal. The villagers fill water for household use from the sweet water tube well near the canal, because the water in the village is not potable. Around 10:30 in the morning, Satbir and Jatin came to fetch water. During that time, Jatin expressed his desire to take a bath.
Satbir gestured for Jatin to take a bath in another canal which was less deep, but the child accidentally jumped into the main canal. Which is about 10 to 12 feet deep and had a strong current. Seeing his son drowning, Satbir jumped in without any delay, but both were swept away by the strong current of water. Within a few moments, both disappeared in the water. Now the bodies of both father and son have been recovered floating in the canal from different places.
