Sonipat: Body of 13-year-old boy who fell in drain recovered, parents blame authorities

Sonipat: A 13-year-old boy drowned in an open drain on Murthal Road in Sonipat, Haryana on Tuesday. He was searched for till late at night. The Municipal Corporation used heavy machines to remove water from the drain. After which the boy was found lying unconscious in the drain. The deceased is identified as Vivek and is 13 years old.

After being taken out, he was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The hospital has taken the body and post-mortem will be done today and then the body will be handed over to the family for the last rites of the boy.

Vivek’s father Raju, said that his son was going towards Murthal Adda Chowk through the cemented drain when he suddenly fell into the open manhole and drowned in the water. His father himself reached the spot and tried to search for his 13-year-old son but he was unsuccessful.

The father said that if the open manhole had been covered with a lid, the accident could have been avoided.
