Chandigarh: State President of Shivalik Vikas Manch, Advocate Vijay Bansal, filed a PIL in Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding to start a roadway bus service from Kalka Bus Stand to PGI Chandigarh. Taking cognizance of this, the High Court has sought a response from the concerned officials before studying the petitioner’s petition.
The petition states that people have to face problems due to the lack of direct bus facilities from Kalka Bus Stand to PGI Chandigarh. There is a lot of anger among the local people who face this problem daily. There is a bus facility only from Kalka and Pinjore to Manimajra, due to which people have to pay a lot of money for autos, etc. for further travel.
Apart from this, a bus facility is also necessary for Sector 32 Government Hospital/Medical College. In the public interest, a direct bus service from Kalka to PGI should be started. Many children go to Chandigarh at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to study in colleges and schools in Chandigarh, including Punjab University and PGI. At the same time, local patients also have to go to PGI Chandigarh for treatment. People have to go to work every day, for which the bus facility is very important.
The High Court told the petitioner, Vijay Bansal, to apply to the Haryana Government, Chandigarh Administration, and the concerned officials within 15 days. Also, the concerned officials will decide within 4 weeks and inform the petitioner about it.
